Pottery with Darian Dumont
Art League Pottery Program
Thursday Morning-10am to noon
Class Dates: Feb. 20, 27, March 6, 13, 20, 27
Class Cost: $175 for 6 classes
Class Size: maximum 12 students
Includes use of all materials and equipment in our pottery studio.
You will start with 6 lbs of clay. Additional clay can be purchased at $2.00 per lb.
We invite beginner through experienced potters to join us in our on-going Art League Pottery Program. The first session of this new series will be held starting Tuesday 01/07/25.
Students will receive instruction on clay preparation. Three hand-building techniques will be discussed - pinch, slab and coil. In addition, wheel throwing techniques will be reviewed.
You will then use that knowledge to choose a technique and explore your creativity with guidance from experienced instructor Darian Dumont.

Included with your class materials is a starter slab of clay. You may purchase more clay if needed. All studio equipment and tools are available for use, including an extruder, slab roller and numerous types of throwing wheels. Brushes, clay tools and glazes are also supplied.

Glaze techniques will be taught so that the student may complete their pieces for the final glaze firing using a HAL kiln.

After firing the student will return to the SAC Pottery Studio to pick up their completed projects.​​​​
Students are requested to bring the following to their first class:

apron

15 qt plastic tub with lid

Tuition pays for 6 weekly sessions.

Because space is limited, we do not issue refunds or allow for makeup classes.

Pottery Studio Equipment & Class Location
Classes are held at the Sebring Art Center - 1985 Lakeview Drive, Sebring FL 33870. Please enter the Art League Pottery section of the building,
using the white door to the far right.
Additional Art League Pottery open studio time is complimentary with a HAL Membership. Our Master Potter Darian oversees the open studio time for students currently in one of her classes, on Mondays from 3:30 – 5:30 pm. Starting July 1, 2024 our pro-rated individual 2024 dues is $35 (regularly $60).

Darian Dumont Bio
​
Instructor Darian Dumont brings over 30 years of experience to HAL’s pottery program. After earning a BFA in Art from William Woods University and later a BA in Psychology, Dumont honed her technical skills as a production potter at several pottery studios in the United States. She is experienced in both hand-building and throwing pottery on the wheel.
Darian Dumont has taught art and pottery in the public school system starting in the 1990’s and continues to teach her craft to adults and children at the Sebring Art Center for the Highlands Art League.
